This is a very special whip. It was difficult on a few different levels. First it is white and keeping white cord clean is a whole job in its self. Then the entire thing is tracer cord which is really hard on the fingers. Finally the white is also glow in the dark and that doesn't melt the same as regular nylon and caused me to redo that bottom knot a couple of times. I was very very happy to get this one finished and out to it's new owner.
These whips aren't going to the same person, but they looked so festive together that I had to pose them for a picture.
She has lots of prizes to give but the very best one, in my opinion, is a new Dragon's Tail made by me, a private lesson from Grand Master Ron Lew and then Dinner with both Jhoanna and Ron.
All you have to do to enter is watch the show, go on to Jhoanna's facebook page, email her your answers and hope for the best. Go play and good luck. Please let me know if you are the lucky winner. These whips went all the way to Switzerland. Andreas was kind enough to send me some cool pictures of him dressed in his costume.
A couple of weeks ago Ron came back to Moab and taught some really fun classes. The Tibetan Wave whip class was amazing and had a really good turn out. If you missed it, you can catch him again in February. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the class. Beautiful Nicole and Alicia. (seriously, don't you wish you were having this much fun?) Andrea rocking it with two whips. Diane and Lisa playing. I really love this picture. Tanya and Chris looking good. Don - one of my favorite people in the world. Valerie Ok, this was at my house, but one of my favorite pictures. The master himself. I love you, Ron. Thank you for coming to Moab to play with us!
I loved building this whip! Tanya has been my friend for over 14 years. She literally is the first person I met when I moved to Moab. She came to the house and picked her stones and colors for this whip and then let me put them together the way I saw fit. I love this vibrant whip... it fits her perfectly.
I believe that last time I built a 12 footer, I said that I would never do it again. Well....
I did it again. Goodness, this was a tremendous amount of work. The first belly is as big as my Tibetan wave whips are when they are finished. The second belly is 16 plait and 9 foot long. Then the 12 footer overlay on top! Maybe by the weekend, my hands will be recovered enough to work again. This whip was inspired by a photo of a beautiful snake. I was so happy to be able to create a whip around that idea. I found this really cool new paracord color called Electric Shock to use for this whip. It looks like teal from a distance but when you get closer to it, you see that it is actually vertical stripes of electric blue and neon green. It almost looks as if it is moving. (Yes, I bought an entire spool of it. So, if you want a whip in that color, I have plenty left over) I love love love how the handle turned out. It looks twisty and scaly just like a snake whip should. That is the only thing I could think about when I was making this whip! That and I REALLY hope it stays clean.
