Whip Baby update

One thing that I love the most about this job is the connections that I get to make with people.  I love that I get to share a tiny bit of their life.

I already posted a picture of the cutest whip Baby in the world...  but that was months ago and he is bigger and much cuter now.  (if that is even possible) These pictures make me SO happy.  It is impossible to look at this face and not be happy.

On a side note-  I'm very proud of his Mum and Dad for putting ear protection on him.  I'm sure that he is going to need eye protection in no time.

The Whip Guardian

I absolutely LOVE this picture!

This Sacred Flight whip belongs to Tom Meadows and so does the adorable Whip Guardian.  Don't even try to put a finger on this whip without permission.  The Hounds of Hell seem sweet and tame compared to a well trained Attack Cat.

More Relay for life

They asked me to lead the survivor lap in the Relay for life this year.  Can you believe it??  Neither could I!   I was extremely honored that I would be allowed to be included and also very very nervous to be on the spot.  But it turned out great!  Everyone was super nice to me.  (I did have a whip...)

The very best thing that happened was that my Husband brought my daughter.  As you know, she has classic autism and doesn't like crowds, new places or loud noises.  This particular event was a lot like hell for her... but she came and was so good and happy the whole time.  It was a victory concurring fears for us both!

I also stayed a few hours longer and helped people learn to crack a whip.  No one got hurt, so I'm saying that was a success too.

That is me being brave and all those people in purple....way way way... behind me are the survivors.

To the right is my Angel Girl between my Husband and my Dad.  (the safest place in the building)

Above is the whip in the silent auction, after I used it for the lap.

Is the Show Whip just like a PH whip with a copper handle?

I get this question from time to time.  So, lets talk about it.

The much copied Performance Hybrid whips are made by the Whip Chick.  Lauren has a good set up that she has taken time to perfect.  I have also spent a lot of time and energy working on my own favorite set up for the action I want my whips to have.

My Show whips are similar to PH whips because the nylon whip thong is tied to the handle and they are made by blond women....  and that is where the similarities end.

I do not own one of Lauren's whips, but I have had the chance to play with one and here are the differences.

1. The handle.  My Show whips have a polished copper handle.  The PH whips have pvc.
2. The way we plait the handle is slightly different.  I have an extra knot that is sure to add a bit of weight. But I like how it looks.
3. The connection. Show whips do not swivel in the connection point.  This is the reason they are accurate for targeting. PH whips do swivel and some people like it that way.
4. The binding in the inner whip is different.
5. The taper.  Show whips taper slower than PH whips to balance out the weight of my fall.
6. Show whips end in a 4 plait with a traditional fall hitch which allows the fall to be changed.  PH whips end in a taper twist.
7.  The fall.  Show whip falls are 2.5 to 3 feet long with some added weight that helps them to be accurate for targeting.  Falls on the PH whip looks to be only a few inches longer than the cracker.

There you have it!  Both good and very different.  If you want a PH whip I suggest you get one from Lauren.  If you want a Show whip, I'm your girl and would love to work on a project with you!

I actually like Lauren quite a bit.  There is not a beef or competition between us.  So, put that rumor to bed.  The girls have to stick together!

Relay for Life

This whip will be in the silent auction of the Relay for life this coming Friday.  If you would like it and an hour of whip instruction with me, go make a bid on it!

It is a 7 foot, 16 plait Sonic Alignment.  The colors are acid brown, turquoise and crushed grape.  The relay for life is having a "Western theme" this year so that is why they asked me to participate.  I had my heart set on the brow an turquoise combo from the moment I heard about it.  There is nothing more western than that!  I had a beautiful genuine turquoise cabochon that I've been wanting to use that matches perfectly.  Purple is the color of the event this year, so I added that in too.  I think it looks really interesting and beautiful.
