Whips for Martin

I'm really falling in love with the German people!!  This will be my 13th whip in Germany and in the next 2 months I should be sending 7 more.  Every person that I have met so far has been such a delight.

Martin is no exception.  He is really wonderful.  I love his style and color choices.  We worked out the details of his whip and then he wanted to know if I could make a little whip for his son who wants to learn right alongside of Dad.  Well, I'm a big fan of good Dads so I was more than happy to support that kind of bonding time.

Martin's whip is a 7 foot, 14 plait Sonic Alignment
with a heavy fall.  I am so in love with this whip, not only because it is one of my favorite lengths, but also because the handle turned out so pretty.  This is the 14 plait modified birds eye pattern.  A lot of whip makers won't do a 14 plait because it is kind of hard to make it look pretty with an odd number on each side.  Its a shame really because the weight is perfect.

The whip for his son is 4 foot, 12 plait, one belly, light shot load with a 6 inch handle base.  It is not a toy but it is not an adult sized 4 footer either.  It is its own new thing and it is so easy to crack that I am having a hard time putting it down.

The other thing that was fun while building these whips was the color.  Orange and blue are opposite
colors on the color wheel and so are red and green.  That means that the wave length of the colors are the exact opposite.  It played funny tricks on my eyes while I was building them but I love the effect when they were done.

This is a closer look at the handles.  Aren't they pretty?  Notice that the diameter on the little whip is about the size of my finger.
