Jos asked me to make him a Show whip out of Black and Gold and pretty much gave me creative freedom to make it as I liked. I absolutely love how the gold looks with the copper. This is one sexy whip!

There is some elbow grease involved in the polishing... and it gets ugly before I see the glow. I double dip the handles in polyurethane to preserve the shine. This process take a couple of days.

I use the door for my hook... a little trick that I picked up from Rhett Kelley's DVD. Here you can see the only electrical tape that is used is on my fingers. (I'm allergic to all the other adhesives) You can also see one of the reasons I'm so down on tape inside any whip.....that black goo that gets on everything.

This pattern makes me so happy. I'm going to have to offer it on my pattern page as soon as I name it. I chose the shell specifically because it had tones of gold copper and black. Its hard to capture the iridescence with the camera but I think it was the perfect choice for this whip.
