John's Whip

This is a Combat Bull that is really special.  The pattern has 2 colors on one side and 4 colors on the other side.  The one white strand is a single diamond down the full length of the whip.  That won't mean a lot to most of you... but trust me,  this was the most involved pattern I have ever done.   I learned a lot building this whip and have some new ideas that I want to try because of it.

John's idea was to use the desert rattle snake for inspiration but other than that let me have creative freedom.  It was really fun and really challenging at the same time.

I opened this up in front of my parents today, with my step-father being a whipper from back in his youth and the main person that gets into my whip collection without permission. They were both amazed. I pulled it right out and cracked it in the den the very first time. Mom goes, "that looks like a snake!"

And that was exactly the point. :D

By far, this is the crown jewel of my collection and soon to be the main whip I use for our European variant of Latigo y Daga. At HEMA, I will use this whip with a modified H&H sword starting this week.

Very grateful for Bobbi's hard work, craftsmanship and attention.
