What's going on at HolyOak Whips?

A collection of my whips that are going out as well as related videos and articles that I think are interesting.

Bodlak whip in action

Recently, I made another curved handle whip for Randal Bodlak of Bayside Martial arts Studio in Los Osos CA.  Both whips are super cool and very unique.

I have had several people email me asking if these whips really crack and how maneuverable the actually are.

I thought it would be really fun to show this video of Randal playing with the first one I made.  I think he has some really Amazing moves!

This clip is very candid.  In fact I don't think Randal even knew he was being filmed at the time.  ((He totally rocks!))  He has promised me that he will make a more formal video ...one day when he has the time.

Enjoy this!!  You'll need to watch it at least twice!

Holy Explitive!!!

I've spent a little time working with Kukri, (Maung Gyi, the somewhat controversial founder of the American Bando Association, started it here in Athens, Ohio,) so I could see where the angled handle could have some very effective application, but couldn't quite wrap my brain around how it would apply to the whip.

I'm always interested to see new designs and innovation, but the utilization and flow here? That is just some next level application of form and function!

Which means that I am forced to add yet ANOTHER name to my already expanding list of people to meet on the eventual trip to the West Coast...

Thank you for sharing, Bobbi!

You're right Dan. Randal's designs are game changers. More than that, I think they create a whole new game and leave the old one in the dust.

You should contact him when you come out west. I Love Randal. He is such a nice guy and so high energy. I can imagine that he is so fun as a teacher. I assume that Tom Meadows is on your list of people to connect with? You're in luck. Tom and Randal are good friends and live in the same town. (In fact the other voice you can here in the video belongs to Tom) If the stars align just right, maybe you can meet them both with out adding an extra stop.

Yes...

Tom Meadows, Ron Lew, the DeLongis's, (would plural be the "DeLongi"? Dunno.) The "Other Dan" Borton, (as I used to call him in the IndyGear forums when we both posted long tracts about whips and whip use,) Paul and Lauren, whip artist and brilliant photographer, John Leonetti, and now Randal Bodlak.. There's more, but that's the short list version.
